CMO Jorge Sanchez

Tell us about your background.

I grew up curious about science and health which led me to choose medicine as my life vocation. I read voraciously and I believe my “superhuman talent” is my ability to learn from other disciplines quickly.

Hence, I want to help people in an impactful manner. As a doctor, there is nothing more meaningful than helping your patients live happier, healthier lives

Unfortunately, there are many inequalities in the current healthcare system. I noticed these issues first-hand when I co-founded a hospitalist company in Florida. Often, minority communities do not have the same quality of care as the general population. This disparity really troubles me, especially as a member of the Latino community.

My broader focus is helping bridge the gap. We all have a responsibility to make the world a better place.

What pushed you to help start Sentinel?

My team and I created Sentinel because we saw something missing in the healthcare space. Technology had not accelerated in the same way as it had elsewhere. There was a universal need to combine health sciences with technology and medicine. By working together, we came up with a platform stronger than the individual parts.

I am proud that Sentinel not only listens but speaks. Patients get coached individually on being an active part of the solution in contrast to many of our peers. As a former professor at Rutgers Medical School, I firmly believe in the power of education to improve overall results.

I am also heartened that our patients overwhelmingly trust us in providing better care. By establishing strong relationships, we are able to cultivate higher quality data This, in turn, lowers the risk of sudden hospital visits. Information saves lives.

What practices and (or) types of physicians benefit most from the platform?

We see a lot of demand at small to medium-sized practices primarily in rural areas. Within that subset, nephrologists and cardiologists particularly like our platform. Oftentimes, these clinics are spending more time organizing information manually rather than caring for patients. So, any practice that wants to make patient care more efficient benefits from using Sentinel.

The beauty of our software is that we can guarantee better services for doctors and patients, while also providing more financial flexibility. Clinics can then use the extra revenue to enhance in-house care. It’s really a win-win situation.

Favorite doctor joke?

A man walks into a doctor’s office. He has a cucumber up his nose, a carrot in his left ear, and a banana in his right ear.

“What’s the matter with me?” he asks the doctor.

The doctor replies, “You’re not eating properly.”
